BUFFALO - Jerry Johnson rebounded from a slow start to score 20 points and lift Rider to a 79-59 win over Canisius in the quarterfinal round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament at HSBC Arena.
Edwin Muniz added 15 points and nine rebounds for the second-seeded Broncs (18-10), who moved on to face either third-seeded Fairfield or No. 6 seed Manhattan in a semifinal contest Sunday. Fairfield and Manhattan played later Saturday.
Steve Castleberry finished with 13 points while Johnson dished out eight assists for Rider, which improved to 4-7 all-time in MAAC Tournament play and moved into the semifinal round for the first time since joining the conference prior to the 1997-98 season.
